Look Up!

The Northern Lights recently graced the skies across parts of the United States, blanketing us all in awe and wonder. It truly was a sight to behold; one I never thought I’d see in my lifetime. And yet, there I was, like many of you, standing beneath the heavens, looking up in mesmerizing delight.
Perhaps this was God’s way of sending us a gentle reminder - "I am still in control!"
Be careful of the drift. It’s all too easy today to take our eyes off Jesus and be swept into a sea of distraction, drifting into offense, into anger, fear, or even loneliness. But our Lord does not drift. He remains steadfast, the sure and steady anchor of our souls. Perhaps what we need most right now is simply to look up.
Look up to the night sky and gaze upon the stars, how some seem to flicker and dance as if alive. Look up at the constellations, still in their ordained patterns, unchanged since you studied them as a child. Look up at the moon as it waxes and wanes in its quiet rhythm each month. Look up at the silhouettes of tree branches stretching across the starlit sky, standing faithfully through every season of life and rest. Ponder them and notice that all of creation moves together in an orchestra of worship, declaring His divine order, His constancy, His wonder.
May that never be lost on us.
God Of Wonder
As we search for balance in a restless world, we must not lose sight of the God of wonders. Like the aurora borealis, He commands attention, reminding us that even in a turbulent world, He sits completely undisturbed upon His throne, astounding even the proudest intellect with His creative and majestic power. Perhaps the Northern Lights are His gentle reminder not to lose hope, a foretaste of the beauty that awaits us in His heavenly realm. Has He captured your attention yet? Has He drawn you away from your screens and hurried schedules long enough to remind you that He is still the Great I AM - the God Who Sees?
Never lose sight of His majesty, nor assume you know His thoughts or His ways in this topsy-turvy time in history. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord (Isaiah 55:8). In fact, we would do well to tread lightly when questioning God about anything, for He is God, and we are not, as Job was so challenged:
Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements-surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
(Job 38:2–7)
I encourage you to read Job 38 to 42 (the end of the book) to regain perspective.
So tonight, when the world feels heavy and your thoughts start to spiral, take a step outside. Lift your eyes. The same God who spoke galaxies into being still speaks through the heavens. The same God who set the stars in their places still orders your steps. The same hands that painted the Northern Lights hold every detail of your life. And if the stars, and moon, and Northern Lights were made to worship Him - then so will I!
Enjoy this reminder: So Will I (100 Billion X)
God Bless You,
Carole
