The Spirit Is Being Poured Out—Are We Awake?

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. — Acts 2:17-21
The words of Acts 2:17–21 were not meant to stay trapped in history. They are alive, and they could be now. Peter stood up on the day of Pentecost declaring, “In the last days, says God, I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh.” We could be living in those last days.
And God is still pouring. Sons and daughters are still being called to prophesy. Young men and women are still being stirred with visions. Older men and women are still being given dreams from heaven. This is not just for the pulpit or the mission field; it is for every believer born of His Spirit.
But here’s the piercing truth: if the Spirit is being poured out on all flesh, then none of us can shrug our shoulders and excuse ourselves. We can’t sit on the sidelines while heaven is speaking and the earth is shaking. These are not normal times. They are prophetic times.
God promised not only an outpouring, but also signs, wonders in the heavens, unrest in the earth, moments that jolt us awake and remind us that the “great and awesome day of the Lord” is approaching. These aren’t meant to terrify us but to awaken us. They are God’s trumpet, His mercy call to a distracted world: Wake up. Look up. Call on My name while you still can.
This passage closes with a promise that is as urgent as it is beautiful: “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That is not just a verse to memorize. It is a lifeline. It is an invitation for you, for your children, for your neighbor, for the co-worker who doesn’t even know what hope feels like anymore.
The Spirit is moving. God is speaking. Heaven is shaking. The question isn’t whether He is pouring out, it’s whether we are willing to receive, to respond, and to rise up in the power of His Spirit while there is still time.
Wake up. Rise up. Spirit — break out!
God Bless You,
Carole
