God's Time

I've come to understand and accept that my life belongs to God and every minute of my day belongs to Him. I’m a steward of the time that Heavenly Father has given to me, and I must be mindful of it because I will give an account one day for how I spent it.
What have I been spending my time on?
I must admit that if God approached me today and asked me, “What have you been spending your time on lately?" I think I would have to imagine that I would hang my head down. I know I have not been a good steward, carelessly squandering so much time as if I have an endless supply. But the best news is that with repentance and His forgiveness, He can take all that wasted time and idleness and redeem it for His good.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (AMP) reminds me: Therefore see that you walk carefully (living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil), not as the unwise, but as wise (sensible, intelligent, discerning people), making the very most of your time (on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence), because the days are filled with evil.
Realigning Priorities
I need to focus on activities that align with God's will for my life. To do that, I need to first understand what He has called me to do. Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) says, For we are His workmanship (His own master work, a work of art), created in Christ Jesus (reborn from above – spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used) for good works, which God prepared for us beforehand taking paths which He set, so that we would walk in them living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us.
Secondly, I need to work on avoiding distractions and procrastination and set goals that reflect Biblical values:
Am I spending time helping others and loving others?
When I am with others am I truly present?
Am I intentional in my relationships?
Live By Example
Recently, I took my grandson to an indoor play area and noticed so many young mothers on their phones while their kids played. I get that kids need independent play, but when their little eyes look up to see their moms absorbed in their phones, what are we teaching them? Watching this through the eyes of children is sobering. I’ll admit, I’m guilty of this myself, which is why it serves as a wake-up call to be more intentional with my time, especially with those who matter most. Time is fleeting. It’s important to show others God’s unending love by being an example to them.
Living life for God really isn’t complicated — it’s about focusing on loving Him and others and making sure the choices I make reflect that love. I pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and accountability. At the end of each day, I pray and ask Heavenly Father to reveal any and all areas where I can improve because living life for God doesn’t work without checking in with Him, regularly.
Being a good steward of the time God has given me means using it wisely and intentionally for His glory.
May each day be a reflection of time well spent, revealing the love of our Heavenly Father.
Sister in Christ,
Amy
