Because It Is Your Life

ree

Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe - all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your lifeDeuteronomy 32:46-47 NKJV

In the final words of Moses to the people of Israel recorded in Deuteronomy, we find a powerful reminder of the weight and worth of God’s Word: They are not a futile thing (just idle words) for you - they are your life. These verses aren’t merely parting thoughts before Moses’ death; they are a call to recognize God’s Word as essential, not optional.

In a world overflowing with opinions and distractions, God’s Word stands as our true source of life, wisdom, and strength. When we treat His words as central to our life, not peripheral, we find they are life giving and life sustaining. His truth sets us free - free from deception, free from offense, free from fear. It is not a matter of argument; it is a matter of faith.

And how is that possible? Because Jesus IS the Word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (John 1:1-5).

Do not let the modern outlook of the Bible make you believe that "man’s reason" decides truth. Man’s knowledge and man’s understanding are not final arbiters or a final court of appeals. God’s Word is.

Take a moment and read each verse out loud, then reflect on how vital these verses are.

  • Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar (Proverbs 30:5-6).

  • The entrance of Your words give light; it gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130).

  • Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11).

  • Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29)

  • Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth (John 17:17).

  • The words that I speak are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).

  • But the word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you (1 Peter 1:25).

  • I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth (3 John 1:4).

How can we say we are walking with Jesus if we are not walking in His truth? His Word is truth.

How do you view God’s word? Is His word your life?

God Bless You,

Carole
